Welcome to my world! I'm Cherrilyn Silva, just your average normal girl who's been blessed with luck, opportunity and a determination to experience life passionately.

Cherrilyn's Beginnings

You could say that passion is in my genes for I'm the child of Brazilian and Italian parents - a fiery and intense combination! I'm very close to my parents, especially my father, on whose birth date I was born - February 24th. A lover of the sun and surf and originally a native of Long Beach, California, I moved from the west coast to the sunny east coast of Boca Raton, Florida, when I was a teenager. I simply adore South Florida! The international metropolitan communities here are filled with energy, excitement, and opportunities for anyone with a dream.

My Unexpected Career

My own dreams were of helping people as a nurse, and documenting life as a photographer. My talent and success in photography came under the tutorship of the best photography teacher, Mr. Peter Stodolak. I also attended Broward Community College and Florida International University to earn a degree in nursing. I was quite content with my career path until I accompanied a friend on a simple day out - from that date my life behind the lens became an unexpected one in front of the cameras.

On that particular day, my friend and I were part of the audience for the television show Despierta America at the Univision studios, and it was there that the producer, Mr. Antonio Borjas, noticed me. He invited me to a game show audition which I did not attend since I didn't take the idea seriously. I did accept his second audition invitation though, for the Univision dance and variety show called Caliente, and landed the job as a model and dancer for a year. Mr. Borjas then called me for another audition, this time for a pilot sports show called Republica Deportiva. That sealed my fate and began my career.

Model, Actress, Singer, Designer

Now, audiences and fans recognize me as a model on Republica Deportiva, broadcasted on Univision network for the past 6 years. The funny thing about this is that I almost didn't attend this audition because I was required to perform the interviews both live and in Spanish. English and Portuguese are my first languages, and I felt that I had absolutely no chance at this audition since I was not fluent in Spanish. I tried out in spite of being nervous and unable to memorize my lines in Spanish. Well, the audition was a disaster! Fortunately, the senior producer, Mr. Leonardo Martinez, thought differently and was amused with my mistakes. The executives thought it would be unique for a Spanish-language show to have a model who didn't speak perfect Spanish, so I got the part! That's how I became one of the Senadoras of Republica Deportiva, where I model, perform, report on special sports events, and design the models' costumes.

My television career developed as I participated in other Univision shows. In 2003, I played the villain Zafiro on the first 100 episodes of the soap opera/novela Rebeca. I made a special appearance in the law-and-order mini series Al Filo de La Ley which, to this date, has been one of my favorite projects. I have had a lot of fun participating as guest and co-host in programs such as variety shows Caliente and Sabado Gigante; talk shows Escandalo TV, Don Francisco Presenta, El Gordo y La Flaca, and Cristina; morning show Despierta America; and news show Primer Impacto.

My modeling projects now have grown more widely recognizable with my representing Coors Light Beer as one of their main Latin models in four of their international marketing campaigns, and by performing in a national Bacardi commercial to launch their new Lima Limon drink. One of my proudest works has been to produce and promote my own Cherrilyn Silva calendars - best sellers in the Hispanic market.

Expanding beyond television, my first leading acting role was in the independent film "Chat." I played an unstable Internet chat room member who befriends, imprisons and tortures her unsuspecting date. The movie was a lot of fun for me, and actually won a Canadian film festival award. I am also currently recording my first Latin R&B album.

As for the future, I have plenty of new projects! My life and career are expanding in many exciting directions with opportunities for my creative energies. I feel strongly that there are no limits to my life right now, and I want to share this passion and excitement with you!

The Complexity and Contradictions of Cherrilyn

People have described me as outspoken yet mysterious, and I am definitely a combination of these extremes. Yet in truth, I am shy. But I compensate for this with my determination, putting myself in difficult situations that force me to live life fully and without the regrets of not having done the things that I could have. My Brazilian-Italian heritage makes me a very candid person, speaking my mind honestly and standing up for myself, sometimes even expressing my temper. I am a combination of fire and tenderness. I feel deeply... strongly... passionately! And I feel very lucky to have the opportunities that have presented themselves in my life.
